NUI (New User Interface) Studio at CDR

Several graduate students in our MA program in Interaction Design have developed a blog to document their establishment of a lab to explore Gesture Control. The CDR has provided the computer and hardware to establish a “KINECT” studio in the former FarmHouse for graduates doing research under Prof. Michael Eckersley. The blog is to document our graduate design work at the University of Kansas (KU) relating to Natural User Interfaces (NUI). The timeline of the class will run for the Spring 2012 semester, with the hope it will be a catalyst for thesis or extended projects that spans far beyond that. The lab will be beneficial for the continued development of automotive interior cabins and the study of their  functional ability. In case you are wondering what we mean by the term “Natural User Interface” or “NUI” the following video may clear it up:
